Something special takes place throughout the year in Düsseldorf. Besides established events and exhibitions, smaller occasions can vary from a concert, theatre performance, vernissage, celebration, opening, anniversary, a spontaneous market or a small one off activity. 

Choose from expat meet ups and other happenings, some of which take place with surprisingly little publicity, yet well-informed local nationals attend. Members of the expat community of Düsseldorf and surroundings can enjoy these gatherings too.

Chewing The Fat from Sinclair Arts Theater Company Conny, Melissa, Samantha and Luisa are practically family, they have been friends for a lifetime and made a pact that no matter where they were they would meet at least once a year, no matter what. On this particular reunion, forgotten secrets, hidden resentment, racism and homophobia rear their ugly heads. Posing the question – do we really know anyone and how well do we really know about ourselves? Note: Contains themes of an adult nature. Düsseldorf's first English-speaking theatre group is celebrating its tenth anniversary. After many years of traveling, Colin Sinclair settled in Düsseldorf. There he has been working as a dance teacher and choreographer at Tanzhaus NRW since 2004. He is also an award-winning film director and CEO of his own clothing brand, Sinclair Wear. The London-born artist is also responsible for this piece as author, producer and director. The talented international ensemble includes: Brianna Rigby (Australia), Derya Kaptan (Turkey), Aline Hamburgo (Brazil) and Vera Velich (Ukraine). The piece is about friendship, love and the search for acceptance and happiness. Conny, Melli, Sam and Lulu have been friends since childhood and have met once a year for 25 years. Time has been kind to them, it seems. However, they feel disillusioned and unfulfilled in their lives and are jealous of each other. At this annual meeting, their memories reveal hidden secrets, jealousy, resentment, homophobia and racism. Two women, one dead, the other very much alive, want the same man – their husband. It all starts with a spiritistic séance... English language theatre from Orange Planet Charles Condomine, a successful novelist, wishes to learn about the occult for a new book he is writing. He invites the equally sceptical Dr and Mrs. Bradman and arranges for an eccentric medium, Madame Arcati, to hold a séance at his house. During the séance, Madame Arcati inadvertently summons Charles’ deceased first wife Elvira. Only seen and heard by Charles, Elvira immediately sets out to disrupt Charles’ marriage to his current wife Ruth... And so the “play” begins... Black humour with unexpected twists and turns...
