Neuss Düsseldorfer Häfen

View Neuss from the air and it is easy to see why an early settlement was formed. Nowadays the majestic Rhine weaves its way through a vast urbanisation. Pan out further and the state capital of Düsseldorf comes into view.

The timeless waters of the Rhine have created a great European waterway. A constant flow of barges from the south work hard against the current and benefit from it when heading north. For many, the destination is a dock in Düsseldorf or Neuss.

It is here that two large harbours were created long ago. They connect and serve two powerful local economies and beyond the region beyond. Welcome to Neuss Düsseldorfer Häfen.

An intelligent world of logistics

As well as the two original ports, new locations have been strategically added in recent years. One is located in close proximity to the north in Krefeld. A further harbour in Cologne to the south is serviced by the subsidiary known as Rhein Cargo.

The company offers a trimodal combination of efficient and low impact forms of transportation of goods. Besides ports and the waterways, rail haulage forms an ever increasing, fundamental role in their services.

Cleverly combined services

Rhein Cargo was created through a partnership between Neuss Düsseldorfer Häfen and HGK in Cologne. With equal, 50%-50% ownership, the company offers their highly diverse clients a wide range of logistics and services on a European scale.

Their portfolio includes one of the largest inland ports in Europe, Germany’s largest private railway operator as well as open air storage, a depot, real estate such as properties, office buildings, warehouses as well as facility management.

  • Modern commercial and handling facilities in their public ports
  • Intelligent port logistics for general cargo, bulk cargo and intermodal transport
  • Innovative transport concepts with direct rail connections within Germany and to the rest of Europe
  • Customised solutions for regional goods transport

A flexible partner of choice

Throughout the whole group of companies, Neuss-Düsseldorfer Häfen provides solid solutions through interconnectivity and permanent development of the transport network. They are a modern service provider with long standing tradition. With expertise based upon 100 years of experience, competence and flexibility go hand in hand with precision and professionalism.

Quality, short and streamlined decision making, readiness to take an unconventional route as well as management efficiency, safety and security; these all combine with innovation to provide their customers with excellent service.

BEACHES IN DÜSSELDORF

To the surprise of newly arrived expats, some sections of the Rhine in Düsseldorf offer numerous beaches on both banks. The fine sand and shingle are ideal for walking, playing, relaxing and picnicking. Especially on warm and sunny summer days, people flock to enjoy the river.

MEDIA HARBOUR DÜSSELDORF

The so-called Media Harbour lost most of its traditional commercial structures with just a few having been renovated. Impressive new structures have helped create a rather eclectic, haphazard and lively space wrapped around the waterline.

PARKS IN DÜSSELDORF

Düsseldorf became known as the garden city in the eighteenth century when Johann Wilhelm II, Elector of Palatinate, chose the city as his royal capital. Today, residents can enjoy several beautiful parks, splendid gardens and expansive woodlands.

Germans, on the whole, love and respect pets and are especially friendly to dogs. Keeping a pet on a leash is a must apart from inside official, special pens in the city. Surprisingly for some, dogs are also permitted on public transport and inside restaurants unless otherwise stated.
