Recognised for deep cultural diversity, India has long been a catalyst for spirituality around the world. Several renowned Gurus have become particularly influential and well known among a global audience.
Expats wander the globe, resettle in an unknown environment with a foreign language and culture and leave almost everything behind. Most master their “everyday” in Düsseldorf very well. Others, including their partner or families, can face fundamental challenges.
Many leave to return to the home country or try living elsewhere. Having found solace in stepping out of the race at times, I feel this simple tool can also be of support to many other members of the “international talent” tribe.
Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev is renowned for possessing a pragmatic outlook on spirituality and yoga as well as his light hearted sense of humour when speaking. He is the founder of the Isha Foundation, an organisation with yoga centres, educational institutions and ecological projects.
Focussed on “inner engineering” and holistic lifestyles, he is outspoken on many topics of the day. His latest endeavour is an app, with which he wishes to raise consciousness for some three billion people.

Since our intelligence has turned upon us and our so-called “monkey mind” answers our wishes with anything from fulfilment to madness, he has launched a fascinating tool to coincide with Mahashivratri 2025.

EXHIBITIONS IN DÜSSELDORF
Art venues and museums in Düsseldorf regularly present selections of their fine pieces in well arranged exhibitions. Regular exhibits also include fascinating or rare works from across the globe with loaned art and artefacts.
HIKING IN DÜSSELDORF
Many open spaces entice hikers into the surrounding countryside. Try heading out to the wonderfully peaceful and natural, reclaimed spaces along the Dutch border. The Ruhr region to the east provides more inspiring landscapes with hills and forests.
Düsseldorf may not be on the top of the list for seaside destinations. To the surprise of newly arrived expats, the Rhine does, however, offer numerous beaches on both banks with fine sand for walking, playing, relaxing and picnicking. On warm and sunny summer days especially, people flock to enjoy the river.
