Art Venues
Kunstverein in Düsseldorf
Established in 1829, the Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westfalen is one of the oldest such organisations in Germany. Since its establishment the emphasis has always been on the presentation, communication and discussion of contemporary art.
Since 1967 the Kunstverein has been located in the Kunsthalle in the brutalist, modernist building erected in close proximity to the Düsseldorf Art Academy. Their main exhibition venue is a large hall on the upper floor plus an impressive foyer.
The Kunstverein stages rotating exhibitions from solo artists and themed group works. Interaction with the institution’s members is high with the goal of facilitating access to the world of contemporary art.
Works are released for sale in their annual edition, some being sold out rapidly. Art lovers can also become members of the Kunstverein. Enjoy too the calm atmosphere in the cafe.
